For our yacht service in IJmuiden, we are looking for a Project Manager. You will be the main point of contact between the customer and technicians, ensuring that projects run smoothly from start to finish. Our team in IJmuiden is seeking someone for 32–40 hours per week, with part-time also possible.

Boatcaptain is a full-service company with years of experience, based in IJmuiden. As a HISWA-certified company, we support sailors who are looking for top quality and complete care for their yacht. Our services range from boat maintenance and support for racing teams to complete refits. Our goal is to take all worries off our clients’ hands so they can fully enjoy their time on the water.

What will you do?

As a Project Manager at Boatcaptain, you lead refits and maintenance projects for various large sailing yachts. You act as the link between our customers and the executing team of technicians and subcontractors. You oversee the quarterly schedule, set priorities, monitor deadlines, and ensure the optimal execution of each project.

In addition, you have broad technical knowledge of various types of sailing yachts and are versatile: from providing technical input on engines, electrical systems, and hydraulics, to guiding the team, ensuring safety and quality, and maintaining customer relationships.

• Leading a team of technicians and suppliers.
• Coordinating tasks on-site and at the shipyard.
• Planning, budgeting, and setting priorities for projects.
• Ensuring the quality and safety of the work.
• Guiding and developing team members.
• Translating technical solutions into quotes and clear customer communication.
• Contributing to Boatcaptain’s auxiliary activities to further develop projects.

What do we expect from you?

• Technical insight in mechanics, shipbuilding, electrical systems, or hydraulics.
• MBO/HBO work and thinking level, for example in mechanical engineering, maritime engineering, or a similar field.
• At least 3 years of experience in a coordinating or supervisory role within a technical team; experience in yacht or shipbuilding is a plus.
• Affinity for sailing and yacht maintenance.
• Sales experience is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and proficiency in planning and organization.
• Living in or willing to commute to IJmuiden.
• Willingness to pursue additional certifications.
• Good command of Dutch and/or English, both spoken and written. German is a plus.
• Boating license, VHF (Marifonie) or Marcom-B certificate is a plus.
• Experience in project management methodologies.
