Electrician
Are you an electrician who enjoys working in a structured and organized way? Do you also have an affinity for water sports or would you like to discover this passion? Then we are looking for you! Our team in IJmuiden is seeking an entry-level or experienced electrician to join us for 40 hours per week (part-time also possible).
Boatcaptain is a full-service company with years of experience, based in IJmuiden. As a HISWA-certified company, we support sailors who are looking for top quality and complete care for their yacht. Our services range from boat maintenance and support for racing teams to complete refits. Our goal is to take all worries off our clients’ hands so they can fully enjoy their time on the water.
What will you do?
No two days are the same in our yacht service. As an electrician, you will carry out standard electrical work, but entirely focused on luxury sailing yachts. You will work on a variety of maintenance and repair tasks, from troubleshooting to testing, repairing, and optimizing complete electrical installations on board.
You install new navigation systems on yachts of various sizes and types and participate in challenging refit projects where you can truly excel. Safety is always a top priority. We currently have several large refit projects underway where you can immediately be challenged to showcase your electrical skills.
In addition, you think beyond just electrical work. You are open to other maritime and technical challenges and help solve complex problems on board. At Boatcaptain, you have the opportunity to further develop your specialty and obtain certifications, for example, to become an authorized B&G and/or Raymarine technician.
Your Responsibilities
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting faults.
- Inspecting electrical systems and advising customers on technical improvements.
- Repairing electrical components.
- Installing new electrical systems and navigation equipment.
What do we expect from you?
- You have an MBO work/thinking level 2, 3, or 4 with a diploma in Electrical Engineering, or you have demonstrable work experience in a similar role.
- Possession of NEN 3140 certification is a plus.
- Technical insight and skills in mechanics, electrical systems, and/or shipbuilding.
- Flexibility and willingness to work in a dynamic environment with varied tasks.
- You have an affinity for sailing or water sports; experience as a competitive sailor is a plus.
- You can work independently but are also able to work effectively in a team.
- You live in IJmuiden area or are willing to commute.
