We are happy to offer starters and students a place to further develop themselves. We are looking for an enthusiastic junior or BBL trainee who is eager to roll up their sleeves and enjoys hands-on work. Our team in IJmuiden is looking for someone available 32–40 hours per week (part-time is also possible).

Boatcaptain is a full-service company with years of experience, based in IJmuiden. As a HISWA-certified company, we support sailors who are looking for top quality and complete care for their yacht. Our services range from boat maintenance and support for racing teams to complete refits. Our goal is to take all worries off our clients’ hands so they can fully enjoy their time on the water.

What will you do?

As a BBL trainee or Junior Allround Maritime Engineering Assistant, you will learn all aspects of the maritime engineering trade under the guidance of experienced colleagues. You’ll gain insight into how ships and yachts are built and learn how to fully construct them using various yacht-building techniques. You’ll have the opportunity to gradually specialize in the area that best matches your passion. You will work safely on and around the water and become part of a close-knit and friendly team.

Your responsibilities:

  • Sanding, painting, and polishing yachts.
  • Performing maintenance and repair work on various types of boats.
  • Getting acquainted with the technology of engines, electrical systems, and hydraulics.

  • Working on a complete refit of various boats, giving you the opportunity to experience a full yacht restoration.

Gradually, you will take on more responsibilities and develop into a fully qualified all-round maritime employee within our yacht service. The great thing about working in a yacht service is that no day is the same. You will continuously learn new skills and explore different aspects on various boats, allowing you to keep growing.
